About Suchitra

As an Architect-turned Somatic Trauma Therapist, my personal journey has inspired me to be here today. My focus lies in assisting individuals in identifying the areas of trauma or stress within their bodies and guiding them through a process of releasing it with mindfulness. With a decade of experience in practicing Yoga and Meditation, including Vipassana, Satipattana, Samatha, Metta, I've honed techniques that prove beneficial in somatic therapy. These practices serve as invaluable tools in my approach to supporting clients on their healing journey. In addition to my work in therapy, I am also a musician with my own band, regularly performing at gigs. Drawing from over three decades of musical learning and combining it with the aforementioned mindfulness practices, I continuously seek to integrate diverse modalities to offer clients a holistic and efficient path towards healing.

  • As a Somatic Therapist, Counsellor, and Somatic Yoga and Meditation Practitioner, my approach is integrative, trauma-informed, and rooted in deep respect for each person’s unique experience. I draw from Somatic Experiencing® and my own experiences of Somatic Yoga and meditation to help clients gently process and release trauma stored in the nervous system, without re-traumatization. I focus on body awareness, tracking sensations, and building internal safety, allowing the body to complete survival responses that may have been interrupted during past overwhelming experiences. Somatic tools such as grounding, orientation, interoception and techniques like Hakomi help clients feel safe within their bodies and sensations by regulating their nervous systems.

  • In counselling, I use a neurodivergent-affirmative, client-centered approach that creates space for reflection, emotional regulation, and meaning-making. I support clients in developing tools to manage anxiety, depression, and stress while honouring their unique cognitive and emotional landscapes

  • Through somatic yoga and meditation, I guide clients in reconnecting with their bodies through mindful movement, breathwork, and stillness. These practices support nervous system regulation, grounding, and embodiment- especially helpful for those recovering from chronic stress or trauma. Sessions may include restorative postures, trauma-sensitive meditation, or movement-based explorations to support emotional processing and healing.

  • My goal is not to “fix” but to support clients in becoming more resourced, self-aware, and in tune with their body’s innate wisdom and resilience, creating space for healing and lasting transformation.

  • - COMPASSION & RESONANCE My journey into somatic yoga and meditation practices began as a personal search for healing during a period of unresolved health challenges. Through this exploration, I discovered the profound impact of body-based approaches on emotional and physical well-being. This lived experience informs my work deeply- it allows me to hold space for others with greater empathy, attunement, and presence. Having navigated my own healing path, I am committed to offering a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental environment where clients can explore their experiences at their own pace.

  • - EMBODIED & INTEGRATED HEALING Chronic and autoimmune conditions disproportionately affect women, and the presence of unresolved trauma- particularly PTSD and Complex PTSD- can significantly exacerbate these health issues. While traditional talk therapy offers valuable insights, it may not always reach the deeper physiological imprints of trauma. Somatic practices, on the other hand, support trauma resolution through gentle, body-based processes that allow for safe regulation and integration. An integrated approach offers a more embodied, compassionate path to healing, particularly for those whose trauma is stored in the nervous system and expressed through chronic symptoms.
