Dr. Ooha has a keen interest in research and has published papers in National Medical Journal of India, Archives of Mental Health as well as presented her original research in multiple psychiatry conferences. She has kept up her zeal for ongoing medical education by contributing as an academic coordinator and conducting workshops for psychiatry student groups and early career psychiatrists at various junctures. Her patients appreciate her for her patient listening, clear explanations and collaborative approach to treatment.
A consultation with me starts with a detailed exploration of your current mental health concerns, including any ongoing stressors and relevant past and family medical history. This is followed by a discussion regarding a possible diagnosis and the treatment options available. Broadly, treatment options may include medication, therapy and neuromodulation. I believe in equal collaboration with the patient to find a treatment approach that results in overall improvement in quality of life.

I grew up surrounded by women, affording me a peek into the various ways we carry and manage our stress. This, when combined with the unique biological challenges that a woman faces through her life, brings to light the need for a more specialised approach to women’s mental health concerns.
Keeping in mind the role that women traditionally occupy in our culture, I prefer for any treatment I design to have biopsychosocial ramifications- thereby achieving an overall better quality of life.
I also ensure my approach focuses on prevention of mental illness rather than just treatment in every case where that’s possible.
